A New One!

My apologies that I have been absent for so long, it just seems that there is not enough time in the day to keep up with school, work and blogging too!
Now....enough smalltalk. Here is my latest creation!!!

This is the first in a series of slightly whimsical animals that I will be painting.
Oswald the Ostrich was one of the most fun paintings I have ever done.

Perspective on Painting

Painting is one of the most relaxing and aggravating things for me. I can never get that feeling of being "done" with one. I generally like the direction they go in, but then it is so difficult to know if what is seen is what I wanted to convey in the first place.

For example, take the piece pictured below. I have gotten many different feedbacks on it and through that have learned to accept that each pair of eyes sees art in a new way. What matters is the act of painting and capturing a moment or vision for people to look at and enjoy.

Earrings for the Summertime

I just found a great website with lots of beads and materials at great prices. I ordered a few new things to try out, including resin and molds. I'm not quite sure how that's going to work out but it could be a fun new adventure in my jewelry making world and will make for some interesting posts as well.

A few days ago, I made some great earrings that will go perfectly with a summer wardrobe. They are about one and a half inches long and are wrapped in gunmetal plated wire. I attached them to sterling-silver french hooks. Because I wrapped the wire around the beads to give a unique look to them, no knots were needed to finish off these simple, easy-to-wear hoops.

Despite the size of these earrings, they are still fairly lightweight and are comfortable enough to wear all day! I was pleased with the way these turned out and I will definitely make more like them in the future.

Beads, Brushes, and Inspiration

Welcome to the Simple Treasures blog! This will be a blog mainly focused on the jewelry, paintings and crafts that I make in my spare time. I have been making jewelry and crafting since I was about six years old (it started as boredom relief and it kept me from bugging my mom!) and it continues to be a creative outlet for me. Painting is something I have enjoyed for a few years now and I will occasionally post pictures of my artwork here.
Learning new techniques and keeping jewelry light, simple, and easy to wear is my goal and passion; simply because life is complicated and your accessories shouldn't have to be! The sweet and wonderful things in nature inspire me and keep me looking for original ideas that can be turned into wearable pieces.
I invite you to follow my creative journey...
